Burundi Coronavirus Updates

Melchior Ndadaye international airport in Bujumbura closed due to Coronavirus prevention since March 27, 2020, will be reopened from Sunday, November 8, 2020, it was announced the Secretary-General and spokesperson for Burundi Government, Mr. Prosper Ntahorwamiye in a Communique this Tuesday.
The communiqué clarified new measures and procedures to be followed by travelers traveling to and from Burundi. On entering or leaving Burundi, the presentation of a negative COVID19 test carried out 72 hours before boarding will be required.
Those who travel to Burundi will have to book a confinement hotel on a platform managed by MediaBox Burundi. On arrival, all travelers must be screened and comply with a containment measure of strict application of 72 hours in one of the hotel establishments provided for the occasion. The screening test and hotel costs will be payable by the traveler.
The Government also announced that the reopening of the land and sea borders of Burundi will be gradual depending on the state of play and the operationality of the health infrastructure necessary to deal with COVID19.
China Donation
This Tuesday, the Chinese government, through its Ambassador in Burundi, offered to the Ministry of Health and the Fight against AIDS, the donation of medical equipment intended for the prevention and treatment of COVID-19.
A donation worth $ 550,000, consisting of 50 respirators, 50 oxygen concentrators, thermoflash, and a large set of masks. It was the permanent secretary of the Health Ministry, Dr. J. Baptiste NZORIRONKANKUZE, who received the donation on behalf of the Burundi Government.
