The National Youth Council of Burundi was encouraged to take advantage of the goodwill extended by H.E. the President and the Government of Burundi to complement their efforts and contribute significantly to the development and prosperity of the youth and citizens.
Why it matters
The Charter provides an avenue for effective youth participation in the development process. It defines youths as people between the ages of 15-35 years. It was developed after research was conducted on the state of the African Youth, commissioned by the African Union Commission. The Charter is meant to provide young people with a political and legal framework intended to support the development of youth activities at the continental, regional and national level in Africa.
