Burundi records some wins at African Union Head of States Summit

After many years that Burundi was not represented physically by its own president at the AU Head of States Summit that occurs every year around February, this 2022 President Ndayishimiye attended the summit that was held in Ethiopia’s Addis Ababa.
Upon return from Ethiopia this Monday, February 7th, 2022, President Evariste Ndayishimiye said he is satisfied with the conclusions of the 35th ordinary session of the Conference of Heads of State and Government Members of the African Union held in Addis Ababa, on February 05 and 06, 2022.
Apart from the main points including the economy, peace and security usually analyzed during an ordinary session, the Heads of State and Government also spoke about Covid19 and malaria.

On the sidelines of the 35th ordinary session of the African Union, President Evariste Ndayishimiye received in audience successively the President of the African Commission Moussa Faki Mahamat, the Prime Minister of Ethiopia Abiy Ahmed Ali, and the President of the African Development Bank, (ADB in the acronym) Akinwumi Ayodeji with whom they discussed the strengthening of cooperation links.
In their discussion President Evariste Ndayishimiye condemned with the utmost energy the unconstitutional changes recently observed in West Africa, the acts of terrorists observed in some parts of Africa and congratulated Mozambique for the step already taken in its fight against terrorism.
According to the presidential press: "Given the various reports analyzed, Burundi has served as an example in terms of good governance and progress in the consolidation of peace and security," said President Ndayishimiye, stressing that Burundi has its experiences to share with other African countries, mentioning the contribution of Burundian troops in the return of peace to countries such as Somalia, the Central African Republic, etc.
Following its significant progress, Burundi has seen its confidence renewed in the organs of the African Union. He was elected to the Peace and Security Council and is proud of the endorsement of Burundian candidate, former President Domitien Ndayizeye to the Council of the Wise of the African Union.
