Burundi: The European Union lauds a new climate of confidence and the efficient control of the Covid-19 pandemic

Dear Readers,
The heads of missions of the European Union and its States members expressed in a New Message published on January 4th their sincere wishes for happiness and health to all Burundians as well as the President, his family, and all Burundian authorities.
As the statement mentions, the year 2020 was intense; she saw the elections and the installation of new institutions in Burundi. On the world stage, it will have been marked by the pandemic, brought under control in Burundi, the management of which will however remain a great challenge in 2021.
The European Union member states are delighted as well as the financial cooperation with the Organization Internationale de la Francophonie has resumed, and note that Burundi is no longer considered as a risk factor on the continent and has therefore been removed from the agenda of the Security Council of United Nations.
The heads of missions mention that the Burundian authorities have taken initiatives to warm relations with the European Union. They congratulated President Ndayishimye in regards to gestures made in particular on the occasion of the end-of-year celebrations.
The EU heads of mission wish to see the climate of renewed confidence, mutual respect, political dialogue, and sharing of values translated as quickly as possible, on the basis of commitments reciprocal, in a gradual and complete normalization of relations between Burundi and The European Union.
