This Thursday the Burundi delegation visited Djibloho, a newly built town because it was built in 2015 in the middle of the equatorial forest on an area of 30,000 hectares, with an estimated population of fewer than 100,000 inhabitants. This city attracts many tourists and investors. The delegation explored, among other sites, the industrial and technological zone and the university campus of Djibloho.
Meanwhile in Tanzania
Tanzanian President John Magufuli was sworn in this Thursday for a second five-year term despite growing resentment over the disputed polls last week which the opposition claims were marred by fraud and widespread irregularities. In the ceremonies, Burundi was represented by Prime Minister Alain Guillaume Bunyoni.
In his address, Magufuli pledged to work together with all Tanzanians regardless of their tribal, religious, political, and racial beliefs towards making Tanzania an economically independent country.
"The elections are over. Let's now join hands in completing flagship projects and launch new ones, accelerating the fight against corruption and embezzlement of public funds, fighting poverty and creating jobs," he said.
Magufuli won 84% of votes in elections held on Oct. 28. His main opponent, Tundu Lissu of the Party of Democracy and Progress, garnered only 13% of the votes.
