This Friday, the President of the Republic of Burundi Evariste Ndayishimiye received representatives of the diplomatic and consular corps, as well as representatives of international organizations accredited to Burundi, in a New Year's civility exchange ceremony. It was an opportunity for the Head of State to reaffirm the will of the Burundi Government to strengthen the bonds of fraternity and cooperation with friendly countries and partners.
Moments before the ceremonies, President Ndayishimiye, received two new ambassadors representing the Indian Republic and Egypt, respectively A. Ajay Kumar, and Yasser El Atawi, who came to present their credentials to him.
Resident Representative of the UNDP received at Ntare House
The President received Mrs. Nicole KOUASSI, the new Resident Representative of the UNDP, they exchanged about the socio-economic situation of the country, particularly the development projects underway. They evoked the need to empower young people and women, and support for public administration. The President of the Republic expressed his wish to see the United Nations revive development support for Burundi for its recovery.
Libya Keen on Rebooting its Engagement with COMESA
The State of Libya has renewed its commitment to COMESA and resolved to actively participate and implement regional integration programs to make a more meaningful impact locally and in the bloc.
A first of its kind two-day sensitization workshop was held virtually for the country on 25-26 January 2021 during which Libya’s Minister of Foreign Affairs His Excellency Mohamed Taher Hamouda Siala reiterated his government’s resolve to be more engaged in the activities and programs of COMESA for the benefit of the country and the region.
He said Libya has long believed in the ideologies of COMESA and it was the right time to re-focus and prioritize regional integration in order to transform the economy of the country. (Comesa)
