Dear Readers,
Qatar Football Association (QFA) on Friday signed four cooperation agreements with the football associations of Burundi, Gabon, Kosovo, and South Sudan.
They were signed on behalf of the QFA by Vice-President of QFA Saud bin Abdulaziz Al Mohannadi and on behalf of the four association by President of the Kosovo Football Association Agim Ademi, President of the Burundian Football Association Reverien NDIKURIYO, President of the Gabon Football Association Pierre-Alain Mounguengui, and President of the South Sudan Football Association Francis Amin, in the presence of Secretary-General of the QFA Mansour Al Ansari.
As the Doha stadium media reports, through signing these agreements, the QFA aims to invest the distinguished friendship and bilateral relations between the State of Qatar and the four countries in advancing football and including more fields that will have many fruitful results at all levels, while enhancing the continued success of football in Qatar, Burundi, Gabon, Kosovo, and South Sudan.
The delegations of the four associations visited the pavilion of the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy before signing the agreements, where they were briefed on Qatar's latest preparations and the impressive progress towards hosting Qatar for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022. They also toured the Aspire Academy, where they were briefed on its latest services in developing young people in various sports disciplines.
Doha hosts from this Friday, February 14, the 2020 CAF Super Cup between Egypt's Zamalek and Tunisia's Esperance de Tunis at Thani bin Jassim Stadium.
This is the second time the CAF Super Cup will be held outside Africa, following last season's edition, which was also held in Doha.
Zamalek, the holder of the Confederation Cup, are searching for a fourth Super Cup title and the first since 2003, while Esperance, the winner of the CAF Champions League, hope to achieve their second title after winning the 1995 edition.
Esperance seeks to make up for their 1-2 loss in the 2019 Super Cup match against Moroccan Raja Casablanca, in a renewed confrontation between coach Moine Chaabani and the coach of Zamalek Patrice Carteron, who led Raja to win the 2019 Super Cup title in Doha.
The two teams will clash tomorrow in front of 25,000 fans in a sold-out crowd at Thani bin Jassim Stadium.
In 2019, Qatar Football Association signed an agreement with the Confederation of African Football (CAF) stipulating that Doha will host the African Super Cup for the next three years.
Have a nice weekend!
