IN THE WEEKEND
The Program for Economic Empowerment and Youth Employment (PAEEJ) in Burundi presented the half-yearly achievement report during a press conference held at its headquarters located in Gitega. According to the National Coordinator, Mr. Désiré Manirakiza, out of the 48 billion allocated to youth, over 13 billion have already been used. In the field of agriculture and livestock, 376 out of 335 have been planned, or 112%. In agri-food processing, the agency has financed 427 projects out of 416 planned, or 102%, and 4 out of 25 of the remaining projects planned.
Burundi and the European Union opt for a permanent dialogue to consolidate their partnership. The President of the Republic of Burundi, Évariste Ndayishimiye received in audience Ambassador Bernard Quintin, Special Envoy of the European Union for the Great Lakes Region who welcomed the extremely significant progress made by Burundi, as evidenced by the revitalization of the Burundi-EU partnership. “We are noticing very positive developments on the ground," said the EU Special Envoy, highlighting the remarkable efforts of the Burundian Head of State which deserve to be supported. The European diplomat said that the European Union calls for the strengthening of its partnership with Burundi through a frank, open, and permanent dialogue.
“The COVID-19 test is no longer required for travelers entering Burundi through the various entry points,” said Dr. Sylvie Nzeyimana, Minister of Public Health and the Fight against AIDS, on Thursday, January 5, 2023. She also indicated that for outgoing travelers, the negative PCR test is only required for those who travel to countries that require it before entering their territory. The Heath minister said that community screening for COVID-19, disease surveillance, and compliance with barrier measures remain in force throughout the national territory.

Wednesday, January 11th, 2023
The National Assembly will analyze and adopt the bill on the cooperation between Burundi and Indonesia
-Thursday, January 12th, 2023
The National Assembly will analyze the Bill amending Law No. 1/004 of July 9, 1996, on the organization and operation of the Notariat as well as the status of the Notary.
